what you can do

Sponsor a Child
Many of the children in Kenya have been left with no sustainable means of support as a result of the death of their parents and the absence of wider family. Sponsoring one of these children means you donate £20 every month and that money is used to pay for the basic needs and welfare of a child; food, clothing and schooling costs.

  • £15 buys a desk;
  • £20 a month pays for a community teacher. Many schools are facing a teaching crisis due to lack of funds and classes of more than 80 children are common today.
  • £17 buys a school uniform and shoes for a child;
  • £200 pays to train a trainer in natural medicine;
  • £500 buys a library of school books;
  • £1,000 buys a solar power system for a village.
  • £2,000 builds a classroom.

Take part in our Rafiki Programme(Rafiki means friend in Swahili)
Each year we take a group of volunteers to one of our projects to work with the children and the communities. Activities have included specialist football coaching with local children, decorating classrooms, planting trees for the school garden, solar cooking, health education, music, dance and art. Our aim is to broaden the experience of the children within our programmes, but it is also a life enhancing experience for our volunteers. The difference that enthusiasm, hope and stimulation makes to the children cannot be quantified but can change their lives and their prospects for ever. All volunteers must raise the money to cover the cost of their trip.

Arrange a Fund Raising event
Support a fund raising event by volunteering as a helper or by sponsoring someone else or have fun running an event of your own. In February next year David Burditt and Peter Jackson will attempt to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro. You can add your support through their Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/Footsteps-Kilimanjaro
